Safe Sanctuary Information and Training

Four Oaks United Methodist Church is committed to conducting our ministry so that children, youth and adults will be safe to grow spiritually. We further commit to demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ so that each person will be “surrounded by steadfast love,…established in the faith, and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal” (Baptismal covenant II, United Methodist Hymnal, p.44). We strive to fulfill this commitment to prevent abuse and neglect of our children and youth through preventive measures, reporting, education and training.

Starting in 2016, an on-site training session will be mandatory for volunteers. On site training will then be provided every 4 years and will be mandatory for all volunteers.

During the interim years, all current volunteers must complete the online renewal process by August 31 via the church website. Training completed in May through August will be valid until August 31 of the following year.  Training completed in September through April will be valid until August 31 of the current year.

Those who are currently Safe Sanctuary compliant and therefore can work with children and youth in the Church can be viewed by clicking here.

To complete the “online renewal process”: Read the Policy, Nursery Guidelines, and the Covenant. View the PowerPoint. Then, complete the “Online Quiz and Covenant Affirmation”.

Background checks are also required of all volunteers. If you have not had a church background check in the last four years, you may authorize one by completing the Background Check Authorization form found below and submitting it to the Chair of the Staff Parish Team.
